Technologies:
- Testing in a climate chamber - selected models of sleeping bags from each collection have been tested in the Weiss climate chamber on a complex 16-element DIANA dummy (in accordance with the European standard PN-EN 13537-2004). In this way, the temperatures T max, T comf, T lim, T min were determined. Then, based on the results of the tests, the temperature ranges of all Fjord Nansen sleeping bags were calculated, thus reducing to a minimum the risk of the customer buying the wrong sleeping bag. Before choosing, ask yourself how you feel the cold and take this fact into account when choosing a particular model. In most cases, we should choose a model that is slightly warmer than we had previously assumed.
- Temperature ranges according to EN 13537 - they refer to a standard man and a standard woman after an average effort. NOTE! Sometimes the sensation of cold can be different in different people. Factors such as fatigue, hunger, malaise, previous hypothermia, age, metabolism, body fat thickness, etc. also affect the way the cold is felt.
- Upper comfort limit (T max) - the temperature at which a "standard man" does not sweat, and excessive temperature does not disturb his sleep.
- Comfort (T comf) - the temperature at which a person is in thermal equilibrium and does not feel cold. This value refers to a "standard", full woman, after an average effort. This parameter should guide women when choosing a sleeping bag.
- Limit temperature (T lim) - the lowest temperature at which a "standard man" can sleep comfortably. This parameter should guide men when choosing a sleeping bag.
- Extreme temperature (T min) - exceeding this value causes the risk of hypothermia and means conditions in which you can survive for six hours at most (a parameter based on the feelings of the "average woman"). This temperature should not guide us when buying a sleeping bag!!!
The above-described standard does not analyze the durability of the nonwoven fabric, so we decided to additionally perform our own test.
- 10 wash test - wanting to additionally check such parameters of our sleeping bags as the strength of the filling (pounding, displacement), resistance to washing, thermal stability over a given period of time, we decided to carry out the so-called 10-wash test (with spinning, of course). MICROFILL Super-Therm nonwoven fabric test results exceeded our expectations. It turned out that the sleeping bag retained its thermal performance, and the nonwoven fabric did not change its thickness and elasticity!!!
Practical notes: remember to store the sleeping bag unfolded or in a storage bag, under no circumstances stowed in a compression bag!!! With proper storage, it will stay just as warm all the time.
