The latest proposal from the Fjord Nansen brand for minimalists, lovers of hammocking or sleeping on the so-called "soil". QUILT because it is referred to is a combination of a comforter with a warm down sleeping bag. Thanks to the trousers and drawstrings, you will fit it to the shape of your mat/mattress which will prevent it from blowing up and getting cool air inside.
The presented ARRAN 420 model is the thickest version of the quilt that Fjord Nansen offers.
QUILT is the solution for true minimalists. Combined with a self-inflating mat or mattress, it fulfills the role of a sleeping bag, and thus takes up less space when folded (due to the lack of a hood and "back" - no insulation on the back). In addition, filling it with hydrophobic down increases its "lifespan" and it handles moisture much better. Down with a spring rate of 800 cuin.
ARRAN material is ultra-lightweight, pleasant to the touch and coated with WR (Water Repellent - with water repellent properties). Thanks to RIPSTOP technology, the material gains even more strength.
Main features:
- top quilt" design"
- universal size;
- tapes and adjustment welts;
- ultralow weight.
Details:
- made of super lightweight Nylon 10D RIPSTOP WR (Water Repellent - with water repellent properties) fabric.
- tOP QUILT design - no hood and no insulation on the back (the down that is normally in the sleeping bag on the back, in ARRAN is on the front and sides);
- universal size suitable for people up to 195 cm tall;
- filled with down and feathers from European duck in a ratio of 92/8, with a spring rate of 800 cuin;
- hydrophobic down;
- h-shaped chambers, which are additionally divided vertically (this nullifies the effect of down escaping to the sides during sleep --> it works especially well for people who sleep on their side and move around a lot);
- zipper located centrally, unzipped from the top (due to the design, it is not possible to connect to a second sleeping bag);
- Anti-Bite System - on both sides of the zipper, the material is trimmed in a way that prevents cutting into the zipper;
- the drawstring allows you to smoothly adjust the circumference of the upper part of the sleeping bag;
- rubber straps with adjustable buckles;
- small pocket inside;
- the lower part of the sleeping bag so called FOOTBOX in the form of a welt - thanks to it, without leaving the sleeping bag you can easily increase air circulation or easily jump into a nap without taking off your shoes;
- compression pouch included;
- fluorescent puller (easy to find the lock at night);
- on the inside there are loops that allow you to install a liner (insert/liner;
- warming the feet with an additional layer of down for comfort and to keep them warm while sleeping.

The thermal performance of this sleeping bag has been validated on the basis of 9 tests of Fjord Nansen sleeping bags conducted in the laboratory. That's why you can rely on the brand's recommended temperatures. You can read more about it in the article TEMPERATURE TESTS OF SLEEPING BAGS - THE KEY TO A GOOD NIGHT'S SLEEP.
Note: in the name given T lim - this is the lowest temperature at which a "standard man" can sleep comfortably. Women or people who freeze easily should be guided by the T comfort thermal parameter when choosing a sleeping bag.
Temperature ranges according to EN 13537 - they refer to a standard man and a standard woman after an average effort.
NOTE! Sometimes the sensation of cold can be different in different people. Factors such as fatigue, hunger, malaise, previous hypothermia, age, metabolism, body fat thickness, etc. also affect the way the cold is felt.
- Comfort (T comf) - the temperature at which a person is in thermal equilibrium and does not feel cold. This value refers to a "standard", full woman, after an average effort. This parameter should guide women when choosing a sleeping bag.
- Limit temperature (T lim) - the lowest temperature at which a "standard man" can sleep comfortably. This parameter should guide men when choosing a sleeping bag.
- Extreme temperature (T min) - exceeding this value causes the risk of hypothermia and means conditions in which you can survive for six hours at most (a parameter based on the feelings of the "average woman"). We should not be guided by this temperature when buying a sleeping bag.
